While its extremely annoying not being able to just move my basic OpenSIM databases into New World Studio (my version uses Paradox while New World Studio uses MySQL), I've always had trouble connecting to other grids. Whenever I tried to move the required config file (OpenSim.ini) into the folder it needed to be in it would never work again! I've tried playing with account credentials but it still refuses to connect. I'm talking OSGrid and New World Grid. I make sure to make a copy for grid mode just in case since OpenSIM always quits on its own and is never able to work again regardless of if I put the old file back or not. I clearly need professional help.

Wow, no post editing like in SMF2. Oh well, OpenSIM v0.5 uses MySQL databases, while New World Grid uses SQL. I've found a way to copy stuff from one database into another using PhpMyAdmin, but I still have a major problem connecting to the New World Grid. While it has been awhile since I've had my two regions running, they refuse to show up in the region search. They did that when I first complained about the problem. An error said it needed IRC-Bridge to be on for it to work right, but nowhere on the site do they mention what the url for their own chat is. Whether I check the "Connect my world to community chat" or not, it still doesn't fill that in automatically. Any help would be appreciated.

new world studio no longer connects to new world grid also the present version of new world studio uses mysqyl not sqyl lite so the entire system has changed.
new world studio is presently version 0.7.1 and it runs as a stand alone version which you can hypergrid enable. The database issues and dead regions that no one ever used was fixed as the present new world studio does not use the new world grid database :) Your database is now stored on your pc Eden copied and pasted a link regarding the present version of new world studio. If you did not store your old new world studio to your hard drive as directed when they disconnected the sims now a year ago about if not more using aor files then unfortunately your sim is lost . |

Thanks! I had no idea that despite where the databases in the config file come from it still won't load my land for view in New World Grid. Makes me wonder if its possible to connect my sims to any grid...

You wont be on new world grid as i said in the post New World Grid is now seperate. You can hypergrid into it but your database remains on your pc at all times So you need to enable your new world studio and hypergrid into new world grid and visa versa.
Osgrid is a completely different set up . They host most of your inventory on their data servers and you hook your pc up into their grid. I cannot connect to osgrid because everytime I make an avatar on osgrid the inventory becomes corrupt so even though my sim will connect I still have to hypergrid into it from another grid because they have a database issue. In any event look for your hypergrid information if the studio says its connected it probably is but you do have to unblock ports on your router if you have one. Again read the info on the present version. Your sim will not be on the map. (ever) hehe to get to new world grid from your pc sim (assuming its been hypergrid enabled so you can leave your sim and not on localhost mode) you plug this into your map grid.newworldgrid.com:8002 your computer will have a similar link (again assuming its hypergrid enabled i am unsure how much you know about this ) it would be yourip:9000 or something similar :) localhost default ip is 127.0.0.0 if you see this you have not enabled your sim to connect to the internet. bye for now. |
