hi its me again
from the info you left on facebook you need to manually open the ports 9001,9002,9003. you do this by logging into your router there is a default ip to use if you have done this then the ports are open and then you need to unblock them on your pc as well. here is a step by step guide http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/223583 this is also a website that explains the entire port forward thing http://portforward.com/ not hard your almost there. I saw you are in canada (so am I) are you using bell sympatico? or another provider? in the case of sympatico they do have instructions online on how to open up ports. This is your problem easy to fix (just have to know how hehe) edit: here is a windows 7 tutorial on how to open ports on your pc there is two steps to this it sounds like you did the port forward on your router, but not on your pc http://www.sevenforums.com/network-sharing/3214-opening-ports-windows.html also as claudius says there is a loopback issue but I have not seen it happen with windows 7 (yet) only with xp and vista lol. So dont give up your almost there.. |

Hi Bwolf,
If you cant to connect, only when you use public access, it's maybe because you havent not loopback, or if your loopack is not configured. We have tutorial for this on our knowledge base. Good evening and bye for now. |

any idea on how to config a second machine on the same lan to connect to my grid
|

Hi Bwolf,
Tu use two pC, one for NWS and the other for the viewer, i think ; i know that is possible, but i know not how to make. I'm sorry. Good night, and bye for now :) |

eh this is network specialist stuff which I am not lol and I dont know if its even within the bounds of NWS but this is just a guess on my part looking at it as a "remote pc" have you tried accessing via remote desktop.
I am not sure exactly what your trying to do install the studion on a second pc? or login to the grid with a viewer on a second pc the later should not be an issue of any kind the former I would imaging you can resolve it as one would if it was a remote server by using remote desktop to login to the second pc and installing it that way. upload the nws package to the second pc login to the second pc via remote desktop from the first pc do all the port unblocking this way as well However if your also running the nws on the first pc you will need to unblock different ports I would imagine. |

I am trying to have it set up so i can have the NWS running on a computer sitting in the closet, and then be able to use 2 other PC's to log in normal with hippo or some other viewer. I cant beleive that there is such poor support for this. Where is the developer at are they not active in this forum

Hi Bwolf,
For the viewer, Hippo is an old viewer and it have not updated since a long time. The best and more stable, today, is Imprudence 1.4 : http://blog.kokuaviewer.org/2011/09/25/imprudence-1-4-0-beta-2-released/ (for Windows, select the first link : "windows") Bye for now :) |

there is one developer supporting this entire thing and he runs the grid and does all the maintenance this is all done at no cost so he has limited time.
This entire project all the volunteers admin developers all one of them do this for free and so it takes time for them to answer. in any event I think claudius is providing the answer just bear with it honestly these are good hardworking people. It will take him time to get to this as he also has to run the nwg and do all the maintenance. We as volunteers try to deal with as much as we can and what we can't answer he will try to answer. download imprudence. your pc in the closet will have to be set to public access which it appears you have managed to unblock the ports then take the ip address yourip:9000 (whatever your default port is) and plug it into the imprudence. we are assuming that your nws is up and running on your second pc and that its set to public for this hehe okay this was for hippo viewer but the viewer configuration is the same just follow the steps to set up your ip for your grid on the imprudence the same way. Hippo is no longer under development which means that as operating systems and hardware change its slowly becoming incompatible. http://forum.newworldgrid.com/Hippo-viewer-td2943113.html and here are the last two things as mentioned before (all this assumes you have unblocked ports and your nws is set to public ) once you configure your viewer with your ip and if you still cannot log into the region on your second pc its probably loopback that is the last problem. This information is available on the NEW WORLD STUDIO knowledge base setting loopback NWS knowledge base Good luck and hopefully this is the last steps you need.

same trouble i can put it live on the internet, i can connect to it from the
computer it is running on, my wife can not connect to it when it is live on the
internet, if i take it off the internet we can both connect to it no matter what

I do appreciate people trying to help and it is at
the point i have bothered enough people with asking questions, i am at the point
i am going to just forget about it until there is a solution posted that works,
I'm sure someone else has it running on a separate computer and can connect from
other computers on their local lan as well as the internet. Maybe i am not
explaining properly what i am trying to do ?. But thanks for trying to
help.
