SIM DOWN

margie baxley
My Non profit sim A Day for New Life is down, its not even showing up on the region list and it usually does. Any idea why or when it will be back up.

Thank you,

Margie Baxley

Thank you, we can get there now. I have a sim that I host on my pc, Trinity Bay. I was wondering if it was possible to make that an ocean sim and move it next to my A Day For New Life sim?

Okay, I didn't realize that. Then how much would it cost to rent an ocean sim to put next to A Day For New Life? Would that still be unstable?

Thank you for your time.

Hi Margie,

If you put a rented sim beside an other, this is very stable ; if you go on sandbox1, you can see at right and left of the sandbox, my two sim ( I've very little of crash ! )
For the price, the same that a other sim, i think ; but  it's better to ask at the admins for this.

Good evening and bye Margie :)

Hi Margie,

New World Studio will be soon changed. Regions will not be able to connect to New World Grid, but it will possible to use more regions with the new system.
About ocean regions around your regions, it's possible. You would need to contact Crackou, the association treasurer through our support email : [hidden email]

Thank you, so only sims that are rented from New World will be allowed? Will the cost of renting a sim change then?

Yes, only rented regions will be able to connect to NWG. This will add more security to NWG by avoiding modified code in external simulators that could damage our database, and less load on the database too. More information in this blog post : http://www.newworldgrid.com/lang/en-us/new-world-grid-grows-and-evolves-into-an-open-community

Concerning the current rental prices, there is no plan to change it and the fact we are migrating to a new system for New World Studio will not affect prices either. It is more about a technical measure that we have to take as a non profit because maintaining a large grid requires a lot of time and money. Anyway, there is no change to the spirit : we will always help people setting up their sim with New World Studio and support non profit projects, like we do it since the beginning.

It will go into effect as we migrate to OpenSim 0.7.x. There's no fixed date yet but it should happen in the next 2/3 months.

If you have free regions that you would to keep and continue running, we can help through the process by making a backup and reimporting to the new system using simple OARs. All will be hypergrid enabled too (fully compatible after the update) so everyone will be able to TP from NWG to other regions.

Re: SIM DOWN

Okay good, thank you, that was my worry that I would lose what was on my free sims. That's great about the hypergrid :-)  I see a lot of potential for New World, that is why I'm there and why I bring people there.

Yes Hypergrid is awesome, and soon, there will be Hypergrid Instant Messaging and friendlists !
So, this change will allow the association to serenely continue to support non profits while expanding the community with the new open source New World Studio system :)
